Spiced Hot Chocolate

Rate:

Drink and be merry with this tasty hot beverage. To make it extra special, we’ve added some healthy spices. Research has shown that cinnamon and chili powder may help regulate blood sugar and reduce blood pressure, respectively.

2 cups (500 ml) skim milk
1/2 cup (125 ml) Everyday Market Sweet Condensed Milk
2 oz (56 g) semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
2 tbsp (30 ml) Fry’s Cocoa Powder
1 tsp (5 ml) Life Brand Stevia Extract
1/8 tsp (0.5 ml) chili powder
1/4 tsp (1 ml) ground cinnamon

• Place all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat and stir, until warm and chocolate is melted and blended.
• For a frothier consistency, whip hot chocolate with an immersion blender or milk whisker.

Want a hot chocolate without the heat? Omit the cinnamon and chili powder, and add 1/4 tsp of peppermint extract instead.
