Basil-Thyme Iced Tea

Ever hit that mid-afternoon funk? The solution: rehydrate. New research published in The Journal of Nutrition found that dehydration can impact your mood, make tasks seem more difficult, lower your concentration and cause headaches. Try this recipe to help you think straight again.

You'll need

  • 1 cup (250 ml) Nativa Organics Cane Sugar
  • 9 cups (2.25 l) water, divided
  • 1/4 cup (50 ml) chopped fresh basil and thyme
  • 5 bags black tea
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Make it

  • Bring sugar and 1 cup of water to a boil over medium heat
  • Add herbs, lower heat and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Strain mixture. Discard herbs and set syrup aside.
  • Bring remaining water to a boil. Put tea bags in a large bowl and add boiling water. Let steep for 8 minutes.
  • Remove tea bags and add herb-infused syrup. Let mixture cool to room temperature.
  • Add lemon juice and refrigerate.
